Connecting Business Accounts via CDR

Sharing business accounts established under a business entity requires an additional step before the standard CDR consent flow: nominating a Nominated Representative who is authorised to share data on behalf of the business.

This applies to partnerships, companies, and trusts. Most sole traders are not affected — sole trader accounts are typically held as personal accounts in bank systems, and personal accounts do not require a nominated representative.

If no representative has been nominated and a user attempts a business account consent, the Data Holder will show no eligible accounts — even for a director. The sections below outline how to complete the nomination for the major Australian banks.

ANZ

From November 2021, administrators in ANZ Internet Banking for Business can appoint one or more individuals (Administrators or Authorisers) as a Nominated Representative to share data on behalf of the business.

  1. Access Internet Banking for Business and select Manage users from the Settings section.
  2. Select the user whose access you want to update.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Click Yes on Data sharing access.
  5. Review your changes, then select Save.

  3. Select the name of the user you want to designate as a Nominated Representative (i.e. permission to share data on behalf of the organisation).

  6. Select Save.

NAB

NAB’s nomination process is paper-based. Business representatives who need online banking access must complete a form, which NAB processes before granting access.
